The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ogun State Council has allayed the fear of its members, saying that the Soji Amosu-led Executive remains the only recognised executive of the Union in the State.

In a statement signed by the Secretary of the Union, Comrade Ayokunle Ewuoso said the Soji Amosu-led State leadership is the legally and lawfully recognised State Executive Committee of the NUJ Ogun State Council, saying that the National Executive Council (NEC) of the Nigeria Union of Journalists has no power to upturn the decision of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria, NICN, Ibadan, as pronounced on February 24th, 2021

The Statement added that the NEC which is part of the judgement debtor in the suit, lacks the power and authority to vitiate the decision of the court, doing so would amount to committing  criminal contempt of the said court.

The State Council advised the NEC and its proxies and privies to wait for the decision of a higher court to say otherwise.

The State Council further states that another opportunity opens to them would be to obtain a stay of execution  from a court of competent jurisdiction. Otherwise, whatever its view or feeling it would be ultra vires and of no consequences.

It, therefore, warned all trouble and mischief makers to stay off the Secretariat as the Council would wield the big stick of the law against any trouble maker who might think that the wrongful and unlawful decision of the NEC empowers him or her to take law into his/her hands.
It therefore, enjoins all members to go about their normal and lawful activities without any fear of molestation and harassment as those who make peace impossible would face the wrath of the law accordingly.
