A renowned man of God and the Mega Regional Overseer of the Mountain Of Fire And Miracles Ministries (a.k.a MFM), South West Region 1 Abeokuta, Pastor Kelani Emmanuel has described 'shame' as a veritable weapon in the hand of man's enemy, the devil, to limit or totally hinder man's progress and greatness in life.

Speaking during  his message in the MFM weekly prayer Programme; Hour of Prayer titled "Breaking The Power of Shame", Pastor Kelani noted that shame has destructive power and could cause irredeemable embarrassment to anybody.

Using Psalm 31:17 which says: "Let me not be ashamed, O Lord; for I have called upon thee: let the wicked be ashamed, and let them be silent in the grave" to buttress his message, the man of God emphasized on  the notoriety of shame which he said began from Genesis 3:10 when Adam and Eve hid themselves in shame as a result of their disobedient to divine instruction.

He described shame as a powerful weapon in the hands of the enemy to disgrace a man, to limit potentials, and put man in unworthy situations.

Pastor Kelani also used the children of Eli and Samuel as examples of children who brought shame to the ministries of their fathers because they refused to follow the path of righteousness.

He also pointed out that King David was another man that brought shame to himself and his kingdom by sleeping with another man's wife and killed her husband in 2 Samuel 11.

"The power of shame is so devastating and injurious to man, if allowed and it could come from God, it could be self inflicted or from Satan", the man of God said.

He admonished the congregation to be wary of this weapon so that we do not put ourselves into trouble like the late prophet in 2 King 4:1-7 whose wife came to Elisha because the debt he left behind put his family at the mercy of the creditors.

Saying that shame can be inherited, acquired or be transferred which has ability to nip a life, put a life in perpetual bondage, it can attract curses, it can make a man or woman to run here and there.

Shame can also make you hate yourself, lead to destruction and embarrassing situation which may lead to untimely death.

He concluded the hours of prayer programme with Matthew 11:28" Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest", noting that that is only way that man can be free from the power of shame.
