Ogun State owned football club, the Gateway United Football Club (GUFC) has appointed Festus Allen, Shakiru Lawal and Emmanuel Bamidele, as new Head Coach, Assistant Coach 1 and 2 respectively, for the 2024/2025 Nigeria National League season.
Speaking on the development at Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu-Ode, Commissioner for Sports Development, Hon. Wasiu Isiaka, who officially presented Coach Allen and his technical crew with the club's jerseys, urged them to give their best in their new roles.
The Commissioner assured them of the full support of the entire state to achieve success.
While announcing Michael Soniregun, as the Goalkeeping Coach, Hon. Isiaka submitted that the state government and the people believe in the new technical crew to lead GUFC on this transformative journey.
He noted that the vastly experienced Coach Allen would not only inspire the players, but also strive to build a legacy and strengthen the bond with the state's unique community.
In his remarks, Coach Allen, who shared his vision and dedication, revealed that his philosophy was rooted in creating a team capable of competing on the global stage, and his expertise in the game’s rules and dedication to excellence align perfectly with the aspirations of Gateway United FC.
"I am honoured to take on this role at Gateway United FC. My mission is to build a competitive team, foster a strong connection with the fans, and achieve the success this club deserves. Together, we can accomplish great things", he said.
On his part, the acting General Manager, GUFC, Niyi Soleye, appreciated the state government for its unwavering support for the team, calling on fans to warmly welcome Coach Allen and his team.
"Your unwavering support will be crucial as we embark on this exciting new chapter for Gateway United FC. Together, let’s make this season one to remember", he said.
