The Presidential Election held last Saturday in Nigeria has been adjudged transparent enough in Ogun State, especially in Abeokuta, the state capital.

Giving the verdict during an exclusive chat with our correspondent at a polling unit at Fajol, Abeokuta, Hon. Lanre Iretiolu Sotayo, the Vice Chairman of Abeokuta South Local Government Area said the election is a watershed as it displayed the state political maturity.

He expressed satisfaction with the voters turnout which he said was appreciable and also gave a thumb up for the security personnel posted to polling units.

Hon. Sotayo noted that all the security personnel drafted to polling units were humane enough in their handling of voters, pointing out that they did not carry ammunitions to the polling ground.

The local government chieftain said he was highly impressed with the overall success of the exercise as only one polling unit had issues out of the 35 p.u in Abeokuta South Local Government.

He said the polling unit that had problem was Polling Unit 32 at Ifelere which had network problem with its BIVAS adding that the issue was quickly handled and voting went smoothly.

Hon. Sotayo who said he looked forward to a repeat of last Saturday's laudable voters performance during the forthcoming Gubernatorial Election in the state, pleaded with voters in the state to continue to be law abiding and well behaved at polling grounds.

He said election should not be a do or die affair, stressing that every voter should have a gamely free and fair spirit as politics should not tear us apart.

Sotayo said we should all be careful in our interpersonal relationships with one another as we have no other country but Nigeria.
