In a press statement issued by the Chairman, Yewa People Development Council (YPDC ) Imeko Afon LG cYPDC er, Comrade Olutunde Aninkan, the importance of the summit was stressed as the General Elections comes up by this Saturday, February 25, and the Census is scheduled to hold from 29th March to April 2nd,2023.

Comrade Aninkan stressed that information reaching the YPDC revealed that plans are in top gear at all appropriate quarters to ensure the success of the two very significant federal programmes.

He noted that both programmes required optimum sensitization, enlightenment and mobilization of our people so as to be well positioned to take the maximum advantage inherent in the exercises.

Aninkan explained that the people of Imeko Afon needed to be sensitized to take active part in these coming exercises because according to the Chairman of YPDC: "This is against d backdrop of a widely  known fact, unfortunately though; that our area in the past is grossly chiselled in the scheme of things when it comes to these kind of all- important programmes; with it's attendant effect on our share (meagre) when it comes to rationing the federal & state resources among other competing constituents".

He emphasized that "it is in the light of this, Yewa People Development Council (YPDC), a body recently inaugurated by Yewa Traditional Council, presided over by the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount ruler of Yewaland, HRM Oba Kehinde OLUGBENLE, having Prof Rahaman BELLO, former Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos as chairman of The Governing Council ( TGC) was saddled with the primary task of championing the course of liberation and development of Yewa land".

This mandate, he pointed out, is devolved to its ancillaries at each local government across Imeko Afon Local Government Area.
