The Ogun State Government, has called on individuals at all levels to vigorously join the fight against prostate cancer, which though very little is known about, has claimed lives of numerous men in the country due to its endemic nature.
This indication was given by the Governor Dapo Abiodun, represented by his Deputy Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele at the ground-breaking ceremony of Rotary Prostate Cancer Center in Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital ( OOUTH), Sagamu, Ogun State, by Rotary club International.
While appreciating Rotary Club for its active participation in the Nigerian health sector, Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele said the gesture was complementing the agenda in Ogun state and would definitely improve provision of good Health care delivery as the Gov Dapo Abiodun led Administration was actively committed to efficient health care delivery.
She noted that siting the center at OOUTH Sagamu, was a well taught out decision, for the maximum benefit of everyone in Ogun state, noting that governance is all about being fair, just and equitable to the citizenry
Speaking, Commissioner for Health, Dr Tomi Coker, commended the initiative of Rotary District 9110 and its investment in the health sector of the State, pointing out that the present administration was determined to improve life expectancy of residents.
In his earlier remarks, the District Governor, Bola Oyedele assured that the project would be completed in eight months, soliciting for the support of well-meaning Nigerians to donate towards equipping the center.
