Ogun State Governor and Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council, Dapo Abiodun, on Thursday inaugurated the party’s campaign council for the 2027 general elections, charging members to unite and commence grassroots mobilisation across the state.
Abiodun spoke at the inauguration of the council in Abeokuta, where he described the event as the beginning of a new phase in the APC’s preparations for the 2027 elections.
The governor urged members of the council to immediately translate the party’s organisational structure into action across the 20 local government areas, 236 wards, polling units and communities in the state.
He called for sustained consultation and engagement with voters, stressing that electoral success would require deliberate planning, organisational discipline and continuous interaction with the electorate.
“Let consultation, awareness and campaign begin now. Electoral victory requires scientific, deliberation and intentional preparation, organisational vigilance and sustained engagement with the electorate rather than political reputation or the size of rallies,” Abiodun said.
The governor said the APC campaign must be anchored on the party’s ideas, achievements and vision for the future.
“Our campaign must be based on ideas, achievement and credible vision. We must reach every local government, ward, polling unit and community,” he said.
Abiodun also charged members of the campaign council to work collectively for the success of all APC candidates in the 2027 elections, from the presidential candidate to the governorship and legislative candidates at both the national and state levels.
The governor, who stressed the importance of unity within the party, said differences among members should not be allowed to undermine the APC’s collective objective.
“Unity is not the absence of differences but the wisdom to ensure that our differences do not become greater than our common goal,” he declared.
According to Abiodun, the campaign council comprises party leaders, professionals and grassroots organisers drawn from the three senatorial districts of the state.
He said various committees had been established to handle areas including strategic mobilisation, reconciliation, finance and security, among others.
The APC governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, in his remarks described the 2027 election as a collective responsibility of all party members.
Adeola assured APC members whose names were not included in the campaign council that they remained important to the party’s broader mobilisation structure.
He explained that the council was inaugurated primarily to provide coordination and direction towards achieving the party’s common electoral objective.
Adeola urged APC members to remain active in their respective wards and local government areas, saying grassroots mobilisation would be critical to the party’s campaign.
He said the party would provide the necessary coordination and support to mobilise rural organisers across the state, while appealing to members to remain united and committed to the party.
Earlier, APC National Leader and former Ogun State Governor, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, appealed to party members to close ranks and work collectively for the success of the APC in the 2027 general elections.
Osoba particularly appealed to aggrieved members to “shield their swords” and return to the fold, stressing that the party needed the contributions of every member ahead of the elections.
He assured members that their sacrifices and efforts would not be in vain, urging them to put aside differences and work towards the collective interest of the party.
