The management of Zenith Bank Plc has applauded the sweeping infrastructural and economic transformation taking place in Ogun State under the leadership of Governor Dapo Abiodun, expressing readiness to deepen its long-standing partnership with the state government.

The commendation came during a courtesy visit by the bank’s top executives to the Governor at the Oke Mosan Government House on Tuesday. The delegation was led by the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Adaorah Umeoji, alongside Executive Director, Mr. Akin Ogunranti; Assistant General Manager/Zonal Head Southwest 3, Mrs. Joke Akinosi; and Mrs. Afolake Ogunfowora.

Speaking during the engagement, Umeoji praised the governor’s infrastructural strides, particularly the visible improvements in road networks across the state.

“I enjoyed the drive down here greatly. It is on a smooth road. This is a testimony that the Governor is working. Thank you for what you are doing for the people of Ogun State,” she remarked.

She noted that the visit was not only symbolic but strategic, aimed at exploring fresh avenues of collaboration that would positively impact residents. According to her, the relationship between Zenith Bank and Ogun State spans over two decades, and the bank is eager to expand that bond.

“We are looking for areas of collaboration. We are seeking ways of partnering with the state to impact the lives of the people. Ogun State is very dear to our hearts at Zenith Bank, and we are optimistic that this meeting will open a new chapter in our relationship,” she added.

In his remarks, Executive Director Akin Ogunranti described the meeting as a long-anticipated opportunity to strengthen institutional ties. He characterized Ogun as receptive and business-friendly, attributing the influx of factories—many owned by the bank’s clients—to the administration’s deliberate investment in infrastructure.

He reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to sustaining its support for the state’s development aspirations.

“We appreciate the government for the partnership we have had over the years and look forward to other areas where we can support the state in achieving its goals and aspirations. We will support the great strides that the governor is making and the laudable projects he has undertaken to ensure that citizens enjoy the dividends of democracy,” he stated.

Responding, Governor Abiodun welcomed the delegation and expressed gratitude for the bank’s confidence in his administration. He acknowledged Zenith Bank’s longstanding relationship with Ogun State and reaffirmed his government’s openness to mutually beneficial partnerships.

The governor proposed the establishment of a joint working team comprising representatives of both the bank and the state government to develop practical modalities for seamless collaboration.

Highlighting Ogun’s strategic advantages, Abiodun emphasized its proximity to Lagos, abundant natural resources, and reputation as Nigeria’s industrial hub. He disclosed that the state now boasts an airport, newly discovered oil deposits, and two proposed dry ports. Additionally, over 1,600 kilometers of roads have been completed or are ongoing under his administration.

Anchored on the ISEYA development pillars, the governor said his administration has strengthened education, improved ease of doing business, and accelerated housing delivery, with about 7,000 housing units constructed within six years.

Top government officials present at the meeting included the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr. Oluwatoyin Taiwo; Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Dapo Okubadejo; Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Adebola Sofela; and Special Adviser to the Governor, Mr. Seye Ogunleye.

As Ogun State continues to consolidate its position as a leading industrial and investment destination, the renewed commitment by Zenith Bank signals stronger public-private synergy—one poised to unlock greater prosperity and sustainable development for the people.
