The lgbore Stakeholders comprising all the Obas and Chiefs in Igbore communities across Ogun State has condemned the unending crisis over the filling of vacant position of the Olori Parakoyi of Egbaland, whose title is the slot of the Igbore Community in the Egba Council of Chiefs.
The stakeholders at its meeting held on Thursday, at the Igbore Town Hall with Igbore High Chiefs and Obas in various Igbore Communities across the Ogun State said the crisis has affected the peace and harmony in Igbore, calling on all feuding groups to sheat their swords and embrace peace.
The Peace and Harmony Community noted with reservation about series
of crisis that has arisen as the result of the vacant Chieftaincy Position of the Olori Parakoyi of Egbaland in about five years ago which culminated into the locking up of the lle-Ogboni lgbore for one and a half (1/) years, alongside series of court cases leading to the sentence of five Igbore Chiefs by the Ogun State Magistrate Court.
The Communique issued at the end of the meeting stated that "at various times, the committee members had visited Nigeria Police Area
Command on these matters without meaningful resolution(s). The efforts
of the committee led to the re-opening of the lle-Ogboni lgbore about 18 months ago and the report to the effect was thereafter presented to His
Royal Majesty, Alake of Egbaland.
"In other words, the Olori Parakoyi contest has been a source of discord and conflicts.
After extensive deliberations, the lgbore Stakeholders decided as follows:
1. That the process of appointment of the Olori Parakoyi of Egbaland
should start afresh.
2. That the previous contestants who have been the causes of ranchor, disunity and chaos stand disqualified forthwith.
3. That lgbore Community cannot afford to wait indefinitely in filling
it's only age long Statutory Chieftaincy stool in the Egba Council of Chiefs.
4. That the entire Igbore people are committed towards assisting and supporting the Alake and Paramount ruler of Egbaland in ensuring peace, harmony prosperity in the entire Egbaland.
5. That the Igbore Council of Chief should commence the process of selection of a new Olori Parakoyi in earnest; and finally
The Obas and Chiefs appealed to all igbore Sons and daughters in Abeokuta and all
Igbore settlements to embrace peace and harmony at all times.
