This is not the best time for residents of Bassa Airport Road Abuja, FCT, Abuja as gunmen on Monday night, again invaded the community and kidnapped four residents.
The gunmen as it was gathered also kidnapped another four residents at a nearby Community, Bmuko community at Dutse Baupma axis of Bwari Area Council also in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT),
The Bassa invasion occurred about a year after a resident of the area, Mr Collins Abah was abducted on his way to work and his whereabouts are unknown till date.
Also a few days after his Father, Collins Abah was abducted, his Son was also kidnapped but was lucky when he was released a few days after.
Speaking on Monday's invasion, a resident of the Bassa community, Mr. Kenneth, said that the unfortunate incident started at about 11.50pm in the house of Collins Abah, whose wife and children were not at home because since the ugly incident of last year had happened, they have left the community, so they only destroyed the few things that were on sight that Monday.
According to him, they again ransacked every parts of Mr Abah 's house and the gunmen who were about 30 in number, also stormed Road 5 of the community and shooting sporadically in the air before they broke into the house of the Collins Abah, turn everything in the house upside down and later moved to a nearby house occupied by one Engineer and abducted two of his family members.
“From the engineer’s house, after carrying his wife and brother, they divided themselves into two groups. One group went towards the riverside that leads to Kubwa and Bwari, while the other group went towards the hillside.
“It was the group going towards the hillside that stopped at a nearby house where they kidnapped a Pastor and another young man. We could not do anything, we were scared to death during the period of the attack,” he said.
One of the leaders of the community, who preferred anonymity, said that they heard gunshots few minutes to 12 midnight, that was when one of the landlords living amongst them sent them a voice note on their platform that they were being attacked.
“Swiftly, our security personnel came down, we had to make calls to the FCT Police command, luckily we had intervention from them, and soldiers also came to our rescue. However, the whole thing turned into something else, as nobody was arrested.
“The gunmen went with three or four people. From their conversation that day, their main aim is Abah's family, they said they were after a document or information and that was why his entire household was ransacked, but as a decoy, they attacked nearby houses and kidnapped four or three people.
"As we speak, the soldiers that went in search of them have returned without rescuing them. The policemen are still in the bush searching for them.
“We have been demanding for a stronger Police outpost, because the one we have now cannot face the kind of challenges we are facing here in the Bassa community, this is a populated environment. Whatever is happening here is not out of the knowledge of the security architecture of the FCT,” he added.
