Uneasy calm enveloped a remote community of Ibooro, Yewa North Local Government area of Ogun State capital as the family of one Ramah called for
justice following the death of their daughter who was beaten to death by some youths in the community following her involvement in the same sex act.
The family who spoke through their Spokesperson, Kabir Eugene said the gruesome murder of their daughter and the failure to bring her accomplice to justice since the ugly incident occurred is an injustice which must be condemned by any well meaning individuals.
It could be recalled that on a few days ago, a middle aged woman, simply called Ramah was beaten to death while her sex partner, one Soyoye Gbemisola Dupe escaped death by whiskers.
It was gathered that both Soyoye Gbemisola Dupe and her partner Ramah were accused of engaging in the same sex act, an act that is against the law and customs of Nigeria.
Our Correspondent gathered that the secret love affairs between the two was blown open when a relative of Ramah saw the pictures of the amorous relationship between the two in a phone belonging to Jamah, a situation that led to the community reacting violently.
A community leader, Olorunlose Adebayo who spoke to our Correspondent said both Ramah and Soyoye Dupe attended the same university and it's possible that they started their illegal love affairs in the University.
Adebayo confirmed that the secret was blown open when Ramah gave her phone to Jamah brother, one Kamal for repair, it was when Kamal was going through the phone after it was fixed that he saw those despicable pictures.
He said in order to atone for the abominable acts, the community had to summon the duo on February 11th, 2024 for a spiritual cleansing to appease the gods so that no calamity will befall anybody in the community.
But as we were about to go through the process after they had gone into seclusion for just three days, both Ramah and Soyoye Gbemisola Dupe just bolted into the nearby forest and tried to escape.
"This infuriated the youths, they were pursued and in the process , Ramah was caught, but rather for the youths to handle her gently, they beat hell out of her, unfortunately, she died on the spot.
Adebayo confirmed that till now, nobody could tell where Soyoye Gbemisola Dupe is hiding, because she was lucky to have escaped that day.
Also speaking, a traditional Chief in the Community, Kayode Oduyebo, who is the Chief priest for the local shrine in the community said what the duo did was against the law of the land. He said if the rituals were not carried out on the two, it may lead to untimely deaths in the community.
'The ritual is to appease the gods so that no evil will befall our land, and to serve as a deterrent to others that might want to emulate the two.
He vowed to use all means to ensure that Soyoye Gbemisola Dupe is brought to justice.
But speaking to Our Correspondent, Eugene said the failure to bring Soyoye Gbemisola Dupe to justice is totally unacceptable even years after the demise of their daughter, Ramah.
He said the family may involve the law enforcement agency in fishing out Soyoye Gbemisola Dupe from anywhere she might be hiding if the community fails to do the needful.
"Two people committed an offence, only one was treated in such a despicable manner, the community should also look for our daughter's accomplice so that justice may be seen to have been delivered.
He warned that anywhere the family sees Soyoye Gbemisola Dupe, they will deal with her mercilessly before handing her over to the police.
"The family was convinced that it was Soyoye Gbemisola Dupe that listed our daughter into the same sex act, leaving her to die alone is an act of injustice", he lamented.
