The 1982 set of the Egba Comprehensive High School, Asero, Abeokuta Old Students Association (ECHSOSA) has launched an official website for easy accessibility of information and data gathering in their Alma Mater.

The website, www.echs.gov.ng was facilitated by the 1982 set as part of the vision of the set to reposition the school towards taking its rightful place among the comity of notable secondary schools in the state and the country at large.

The four-in-one website, according to the designer Engineer Olawale Adetunji will serve the school, the alumni, old students, and also for registration of students.

In his welcome address, former Chairman of the set, Mr. Olusegun Aninkan said he is well pleased as some old students are having the zeal to have a good and commendable impact in the school, saying the 1982 set is hungry to have many projects executed in the school.

He said  “It was in 1977 that most of our set came together to be prepared for the future, which is today. We graduated in 1982, which was 40-years ago from this wonderful school called Egba Comprehensive High School.

“The 1982 set Alumni was officially birthed on Sunday 26 July 2020, and the selection of the pioneering executives was done. It was the concern of some of our members in the diaspora to bring the classmates together once again that eventually led to the 1982 alumni association.

“I want to specially recognize the contribution of Dr. Wole Oduntan, Elder Oriade, Mr. Quadri Oladeinde, Elijah Durojaiye, and others for their immense support. We the 1982 set alumni, we see ourselves as the sub-set alumni.

“The vision, initiation, and implementation of the website of our dear alma mater can only be said to be divine. It is unbelievable that a school which was established more than six decades ago does not have an official website, not to mention a school portal, in this digital age, hence we decided to make this our debut project.

"The benefit of the website and portal of this magnitude can never be exhausted. Some of the benefits to both the students, teachers, the alumni, and parents will include; school website makes the first impression about the school, it helps the students to access study materials and other interactive learning possibilities as the website reflects the school in terms of values, attitudes towards prospect and acceptance of the modern trends, adding that having a website is the heart and soul of every online marketing.

“Also, it facilitates communication between the school and the stakeholders, especially the parents. It allows parents to rate the school services and to submit suggestions as a way of feedback.

Speaking further, he said
"I want to appreciate the entire members of the 1982 alumni for the accomplishment of this milestone. If not for your commitment, both financially and materially, this could not have been achieved.”

In his address, the National President Egba High School Old Students Association, ECHSOSA, Engr Lanre Bisiriyu, a former Permanent  Secretary in Ogun state and a retired Head of Service commended 1982 set for the many projects executed by the set within the school so far.

“The last AGM we did, we rolled out our programs and we also requested and solicited for sets to key into those projects. No matter how many we are, we must move in the same direction. We are just making sure that proper coordination is done, and that has been our responsibility.

“This 1982 set was not even waiting to launch projects, it is like they are seriously hungry to do projects. I want to appreciate all members of ECHSOSA for the Solar Lights within the school"

“We are also working on the boarding school. We must revive it  to bring it back to its formal position.”

Other members present at the launch were Former National President, Engineer Abubakar Abari; Pastor Sunday Dada, Abiodun Oladipo among others.

While commending the Old Students association the school representative, Master  Popoola Yusuf, a student of SSS3 assured that they will make use of the website judiciously and also project the name of the school in good light.
