Ogun to partner Landscape Horticulturist Association to explore horticulturist potentials

The Ogun state government has expressed the willingness to partner the Landscape Horticulturist Association of Nigeria (LAHORAN) to explore the abundant horticultural potentials in the state.

It has therefore informed of plans to give the look of the state a facelift by engaging private sector to beautify, nurture and maintain a climate-friendly environment.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Environment, Mr Ola Oresanya brought these to the limelight while playing host to the LAHORAN National executive at his office midweek.

Informing that plans are on to beautify the Ogun state portion of the setback stretch along the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway, Mr Oresanya advocated the promotion and exhibition of indigenous species of flower, as aesthetic ones are taking over.

In their words, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Engineer Rasaq Ojetola and a Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Environment, Honourable Farouq Akíntúndé submitted that the current administration is interested in the management of the environment and such partnership will enable it's ambition for environment be achieved. 

Earlier, the National President of the association, Mr Sanya Falẹmu highlighted the need to prevent environmental degradation and ensure that the environmental management bill see the light of the day to ensure adequate management of the environment.

Pointing out that the state has a lot to benefit from the horticulture apart from city beatification, the LAHORAN National President submitted that establishment of bamboo crop plantation and promotion of horticultural crop export will greatly boost the state Internally Generated Revenue.
