Obafemi Owode Local Government to establish modern market in Olokuta

The Executive Chairman Obafemi Owode local government, Ambassador Adesina  Ogunsola has assured residents of Olokuta community in Idi-Aba area of Abeokuta of readiness of his administration to erect a befitting market structure in the area.

Ambassador Ogunsola gave the assuramce on Saturday while holding meetings with New Erunwon Community Development Association, Kemta Olokuta, in Obafemi Owode local government area of the State.

He said a Committee will be set up to look into the citing of the market and immediately it submit its report, the job will start.

"We are working on the approval to put in place a well  befitting Market structure in this place, as soon as the committee submit their report, I can assure you that work will start as this will ease the stress of Our people going to town for buying and selling.


Speaking on the  reckless driving by trucks in the area which has resulted into loss of lives and property, Ambassador Ogunsola while sympathising with the families of the victims said he will liase with the State government to look into the way the situation will be permanently tackled.


"His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR, pays high premium on the safety of lives and Property, I will table this issue before him and I can assure you that he will deal with the situation headlong".


Earlier, the Chairman of New Erunwo Community Development Association, Kemta Olokuta Idi-aba, Comrade Olatunji Oduleye has pleaded with the Chairman to urgently look into the deplorable condition of the roads in the community saying that it has become a death trap.

He also frowned at the activities of trucks that supplies granites to the ongoing railway station in Olokuta axis, saying that the manners they drive arbitrarily has resulted into deaths of many people in the community.


According to Oduleye, the trucks loading and supplying granites from quarry  to the ongoing station has seriously claimed many lives, they drove anyhow, thereby killing innocent people nearly everyday.
 
He then appealed to the Council Chairman to come to their rescue while also pleading for rehabilitation of the road which has become a death trap.
