The President of Old Students Association of Remo Secondary School, Sagamu, Engr Adeola Sosanwo has lauded the governor of Ogun state, Prince Dapo Abiodun for his prompt response to call to help in rehabilitating the school's hostels in preparation for the forthcoming 2021 AIONIANS Secondary School Games to be hosted by RSS, Sagamu.
Engr Adeola Sosanwo, in a statement made available to journalists on Wednesday revealed that it was quite amazing and inspiring to see the speed with which Gov Abiodun had responded to his call to help in renovating the the school's hostels in preparatory to hosting this sporting festival attracting 12 premier secondary schools from Ondo, Oyo, Osun and Ogun State.
Sosanwo said "I just sent SOS to the governor last week to help with renovation of the school buildings, particularly the hostels which are currently in bad shape as the school prepares to host the AIONIANS Games and amazingly, the governor responded with swift response.
"This only goes to confirm that the governor has listening ear, he is truly committed to leaving the education sector far better than he met it and of course, he values importance of school sports which allows for some raw talents to be spotted and groom be stars of tomorrow just as it was in the past".
The AIONIAN Sports festival which began in 1931 was founded to encourage brotherhood and academic development among 12 selected secondary schools in the old Western Region. The participating schools are Abeokuta Grammar School, Ijebu Ode Grammar School, Egbado College, Ilaro, Remo Secondary School, Sagamu, Ibadan Grammar School, Ondo Boys High School.
Others are Imade College, Owo, Ondo State, Manuwa Memorial Grammar School, Iju-Odo, Ondo State, Victory College, Ikare, Ondo State, Oduduwa College, Ile Ife, Osun State, Ilesa Grammar School and Gbongan-Ode Omu Anglican High School, Gbongan, Osun State.
