Save me from attacks by suspected herdsmen’

As residents of Oba Ile in Akure, Ondo State sleep with one eye opened as as a result of constant attacks on them by herdsmen, one of the victims of the herders notoriety,Olatunji Atangbayila has hinted of threat to his life and family.

Atangbayila raised the alarm at his Gbagada, Oba-Ile residence in Akure, Ondo State, while conducting newsmen round his home which was destroyed by herdsmen in the wake of the #EndSARS protest

According to Atangbayila, no fewer than ten herdsmen visited his house in September, when he and members his family were not around. 

 “They pulled down my perimeter fence, worth hundreds of thousands of naira, accusing me of blocking the way to the stream where their cattle graze and drink water”.

He expatiated further that the visit by the herders was the third to his place, since the beginning of the year, after he had received series of threat letters and calls from the ravaging herdsmen.

“As I speak with you, I have  moved my entire family out of my former house because of persistence threat to our lives by these herdsmen who vowed to stop at nothing to kill me and my entire family.’’

He noted that he had stopped going to work because of the presence of herdsmen along the only way route to his place of office.

“I reported the incident to the police, some weeks ago because I could not do that immediately the destruction of my house and fence was perpetrated since security operatives too were not on ground in their stations as a result of threats to their lives by the #EndSARS protesters.”

“I am calling on security agencies to protect me and my household, because aside from my job that I have put on hold because of the frequent attacks by the herdsmen, my wife’s business has also ollapsed while my children have stopped going to school as we all live in fear and anxiety,” he added.
